Active Wellbeing

Sport and Physical Activity are closely linked to Wellbeing. The physical, social and emotional benefits of participating are well-documented.

FE colleges promote Wellbeing through a range of projects with themes encouraging students to get more active, eat healthily, and stop smoking. College life is a great chance to try something new, get active and make new friends.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing postcards offer a great way to understand wellbeing, and to see how taking part in exercise, sport and physical activity can really improve your personal wellbeing.

Connect – make new friends and develop friendships – exercise classes and sport are a great way to meet people and socialise during the college day.

Be Active – physical activity has health benefits and is a great way to reduce stress and take a break from other commitments. Just a couple of sessions a week or a daily walk can all help you to be more active.

Take Notice – joining a club or activity can give you a different view of college life and a chance to reflect away from studies. Take time to relax and refresh your mind ready for challenges in college and life.

Keep Learning – sports and fitness activities can give you the chance to learn a new skill or master a personal challenge. Keep your mind stimulated by trying something new that physical and mentally challenges you.

Give – Giving a bit back, or volunteering, can be a really rewarding experience. Colleges have plenty of opportunities to volunteer and help out in college and the local community – find out more by getting involved with Welsh Colleges Sports!
